Notable Architectural Features:

• The mill pond which has a new concrete dam is used for swimming. Following the sluiceway for approx 1/4 mile one comes upon a large foundation about 250'x50'. The rear wall is about 15' high with the sluice coming through it about midpoint down the length. It is evident that the wheel sat just inside the wall at this point and it was probably a breast wheel.

Importance:
Dr. C. F. Sumner, son of Rev. Henry P. Sumner, early head of the Gay City colony, built this paper mill in 1870 powered by Water wheels. The mill burned down in C. 1880; only foundation remain.
